Date of Death: October 30th, 1757
His Sultanate: 1754-57 (3 years)

Sultan Osman Khan was born in Istanbul, and his mother raising him up religiously. He was very honest and compassionate to the poor. He was a calligrapher and produced excellent manuscripts. He sketched the holy footprint of Mohammed (s) and drew a Taughra (an ornamental monogram) near it, then gave the finished product to the Mausoleum of Eyub Sultan as a gift.

Osman was nervous and quick to judge. He wore shoes with nails in the heels so as women could scuttle away to their private quarters whenever they heard him coming. He was already well over 50 when he became Sultan.

In 1755, the Golden Horn froze, and in the same year, a great fire broke out causing over half the city of Istanbul to suffer great damages. A year later, there was a second fire and 4,000 buildings were totally destroyed.

Sultan Osman Khan was 58 when he died, his body being buried next to Sultan Mahmud in the yard of the New Mosque.

He had no children.
